CIPHER TELEGRAM
Subject: The preliminary program of the Hungarian delegation attending the Korean Worker’s Party’s 6th Congress
For 74:
Please forward this immediately to the HSWP (Hungarian Socialist Worker’s Party) Central Committee Foreign Division:
I informed the referent of the local Foreign Division about the contents of the telegram on October 7. He told me that they heard about the wishes of our delegation through their embassy in Budapest, and they partially answered them.
They have a problem with the issue regarding the possible cancellation of the dinner on October 9. This is because they have already organized various cultural and other programs for our delegation to the evenings of the following days. The referent told me that he will forward the request of the Hungarian delegation to his superiors. He asked however – just to be prepared for all eventualities – that the delegation should bring a written toast speech with them.
The main agenda of the program is the following:
On October 10 the congress opening and the Kim Il Sung’s report. It is desirable that all delegations attend this. They are also expecting the full attendance of the delegations on October 13 for the closing session. Between these two events, they will organize various programs for the delegations. For the Hungarian delegation, they are organizing a site visit to a textile factory in Pyongyang and a grand meeting, where the representative of the delegation will be able to hold a speech.
They are trying to provide the requested time for travelling back, but as the airplanes of many delegations leave on the morning of October 15, they have to coordinate the plane departures.
