II. Disarmament Issues

In the development of proposals introduced by the Soviet Union at the XXII session of the General Assembly on a ban on the use of nuclear weapons, make special emphasis on this issue, using the discussion of the Eighteen-Nation Disarmament Committee report in particular, which directed the issue be studied. Promote the Soviet draft of a convention on banning the use of nuclear weapons, introduced at the XXII session of the General Assembly. Strive for the General Assembly noting the urgent character of the task to conclude such a convention and call for its expeditious positive resolution.

Conduct work in support of accepting an Assembly decision instructing the Committee of 18 Nations to continue to review the issue of banning the use of nuclear weapons and of concluding a corresponding convention.

Continue to assert the proposals advanced by the Soviet Union on banning underground tests of nuclear weapons, eliminating foreign military bases in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and maintaining the open seas and oceans exclusively for peaceful purposes, and other disarmament issues.

General and Complete Disarmament

Continue to assert the proposals advanced by the Soviet Union on the issues of general and complete disarmament.
