German Activity in Lebanon
Christopher George Hoffman, the current First Secretary for the German Commission in Beirut, is veteran Nazi who played an important role in Arab politics as he was charged with running a large network of intelligence with headquarters in Turkey, and has branches in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine.
Prior to the recent war, and every time he visits Beirut, he would stay at the annex to a Bed and Breakfast on Aghriba Street. The lodger at this annex is Dr. Reichert, agent for the company DNB, Middle East branch.
Hoffman speaks Iraqi Arabic well.
As for Herr Kroll, who was prior to the war an attaché at the German consulate in Beirut, he was assigned as consul at the consulate in Damascus, to which he left about a month ago to resume duties.
As for Zeiler, the former German consul to Beirut, he has died in Germany.
