Indian Ocean: Bangladesh supports the idea of the Indian Ocean being declared a zone of peace. It is opposed to Super Power military presence in the Indian Ocean area. Bangladesh has openly criticized the expansion of the military naval facilities at Diego Garcia by the United States and the United Kingdom.

 

Disarmament: Bangladesh accepts the desirability of total and complete disarmament, including nuclear disarmament, under the aegis of the UN. It has, however, shown only limited interest in discussions on this important problem. Bangladesh’s opinion have so far been for record only. It has no direct involvement with the issue.
