RECORD OF A CONVERSATION

with DPRK Embassy Counselor in Moscow

PAK DEOK-HWAN

I received Pak Deok-hwan and had a conversation with him.

1. At the instruction of the leadership of the department I informed Cde. Pak that the DPRK trade delegation in Indonesia has turned to the Soviet Embassy in Jakarta with a request to petition the Indonesian MFA to extend the visas for the DPRK trade delegation. Our Embassy in Indonesia can petition the Indonesia MFA about this issue, however an official request from the DPRK government is required to do this. The DPRK Embassy in China could notify the Indonesian MFA about such a request via the Indonesian Embassy in Peking.

2. Pak Deok-hwan said that considerable DPRK expenditures associated with trips of Korean delegations to capitalist countries and payments of dues to international organizations are expected in the near future. Consequently the DPRK Embassy in the USSR has instructions from its government to turn to the USSR MFA with a request for assistance in providing the DPRK Embassy with 300,000 foreign currency rubles to a special account in the Foreign Trade Bank with settlement through clearing payments.

I promised Pak Deok-hwan to report to the leadership about this.
