23 July 1960

I visited Pak Seong-cheol at his invitation.

The Minister reported that Kim Il Sung invited me to come to him today at Chanson (on the Yalu River not far from the Supung Hydroelectric Station) if I am not very tired from travel.

I replied to the Minister that personally I am ready to go even today but I cannot do this only for the reason that the translation into Korean of the documents with which I am to familiarize Kim Il Sung and to present to him is not finished. Therefore I can go early on the morning of 24 July if this is acceptable to Kim Il Sung.

Pak Seong-cheol replied that he will immediately inform Kim Il Sung of what [I] said.

Later Pak Seong-cheol reported that Kim Il Sung will expect my arrival on 24 July.
