9 February 1960
I visited Kim Il Sung and passed him a record of the 16 January conversation between Cde. N. S. Khrushchev and Vukmanovic-Tempo, a member of the SKYu CC Executive Committee.
Having familiarized himself with the substance of the conversation Kim Il Sung thanked the CPSU CC for sending the text of the record of the conversation. Kim Il Sung said, today I heard a report of Kim Il, the KWP delegation leader, about the trip to Moscow where the delegation took part in the work of the conference to exchange experiences in agriculture and in the work of the conference of the Political Consultative Committee, and was received by Cde. N. S. Khrushchev. Please pass Cde. N. S. Khrushchev sincere gratitude for the warm reception of the KWP delegation and the careful consideration of the issues it raised, and also wishes for good health to Cde. N. S. Khrushchev.
Pak Seong-cheol [Pak Song Chol] was present during the visit. The conversation was interpreted by Choe Cheol-hwan, Administrator of Affairs of the DPRK Cabinet of Ministers.
Kim Il Sung had no questions for me. There was also no information from him, although it has already been a month and a half since our last meeting.
How to explain this?
Possibly this is explained by the fact that familiarization with the content of the conversation between Cde. N. S. Khrushchev and Vukmanovic took two hours and inasmuch as the meeting began at 1300 then the familiarization ended at 1500 and the lunch break begins at 1400. Accordingly, it is possible that fatigue and the time to eat lunch had an effect, but possibly something else - a certain reaction to the recall of the Ambassador from Moscow. We'll see.
