Honorable Richard M. Nixon

President of the United States.

The White House

Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:

The plight of the exiled people of Eastern Turkestan has been brought to my attention by Mr. Isa Yusuf Alptekin, President of the National Center for the Liberation of Eastern Turkestan.

During his current visit to the United States, Mr. Alptekin asked me to forward to you his unedited appeal in behalf of his people. I, therefore, enclose his personal letter to you along with the accompanying material.

I will be delighted to receive any correspondence for Mr. Alptekin during the tenure of his month-long visit here.

Respectfully yours,

[signature]

JOHN M. MURPHY
