Letter, Zakia Hussein and Najma Hussein to Comrade Mukhitdinov

Dear Comrade Mukhitdinov,

Allow me to turn to you with a great request of a personal nature. Once you were so kind as to say at a reception that as soon as we decide to visit Central Asia that we should let you know. That time has now arrived. At the moment Mrs. Ikramullah, the wife of the Pakistani Ambassador in England, is in the USSR at the invitation of the Soviet Women’s Committee. On May 25^th of this year Begum Ikramullah will leave for Stalinabad, and then on to Tashkent. We, as well as the Ambassador, would very much like our stay in Central Asia to coincide with that of Mrs. Ikramullah, but unfortunately, as we have learned, there are no hotel rooms available in Tashkent until May 31. For that reason Mrs. Ikramullah is also denied the pleasure of flying directly to Tashkent rather than Stalinabad on the celebrated Soviet airplane, the TU-104.

Perhaps with your help, comrade Mukhitdinov, we would be able to arrange some other kind of lodging in Tashkent, as long of course as that would not create any difficulties for anyone. As for the other cities, like Samarkand and Bukhara, which the Ambassador and his daughter would like to visit, that could probably be arranged easily through Intourist and the [MFA] Department for the Diplomatic Corps Services. The main issue for us is securing lodging in Tashkent.

Besides this, Mrs. Ikramullah and our whole family, with the Ambassador Akhtar Hussein, would be very grateful for the opportunity to meet comrade Sh.R. Rashidov, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Uzbek SSR Supreme Soviet, on one of the days of our visit in Central Asia, although this question should probably be addressed to the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which we intend to do as soon as possible.

Would you be so kind as to respond to this letter at your earliest convenience, as there are only a few days left until the 25^th.
