Memorandum, Hungarian Foreign Ministry

This document was made possible with support from Leon Levy Foundation

On October 13th, we informed Comrade Carlos Perez, the second highest ranking diplomat of the Cuban embassy, about the experiences which [Chairman of the Hungarian Presidential Council] Comrade [President Pál] Losonczi and his entourage had gained during their visit in Korea in September [13-21].

[…] During their trip in Korea, they emphasized on a number of occasions, not only during the discussions but also in the speeches made in public, their support for the Vietnamese people, and also that the only way to solve the Indochinese problem by peaceful means was to have talks between the representatives of the Indochinese peoples and of the USA. The Korean comrades failed to react to [these statements]; moreover, to our knowledge, these parts were omitted from the speeches published [in the North Korean press].
