Briefings on the Visit of the Atomic Energy Group of the Indonesian Economic Delegation
1. The Indonesian atomic energy group visited the No. 2 Institute of Atomic Energy Research. From 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Vice Chief of the Institute, Li Yi, gave a brief introduction to the history of basic science research on atomic energy of our country, and an overview of the Institute. Later the group visited the heavy water reactor built with Soviet aid, cyclotron, proton electrostatic accelerator, radioisotope equipment, and etc.
2. The foreign guests were satisfied with the visit. The head of the group said: “We have seen all the things we hoped to see.” They praised the work accomplished by the Chinese researchers and expressed their admiration. They said: “China has accomplished a lot on the path of self-reliance in development. After we return to Indonesia, we will report to the Indonesian scientists and people on China’s accomplishments. We need to learn from China’s experience. As long as one has the resolve to develop independently, nothing is impossible.” “We used to know very little about nuclear technology in China. After visiting the institutes today, we came to know that the basic research on nuclear energy in China is among the most advanced around the world.” “We must learn from the experience of our Chinese brothers; we must take the Chinese road.”

Indonesian atomic energy group visits the No. 2 Institute of Atomic Energy Research in China, touring various facilities in the institute including a heavy water reactor built with Soviet aid.
