From conversations with Comr. Pimenov, 1st Secretary of the Embassy of the USSR, on 23 and 25.IV.1957
The conversations aimed to obtain data regarding scientific-technical cooperation between the USSR and the DPRK (about which I have written in note no. 267/37/2421/57/tjn.).
While discussing general issues concerning the DPRK, I brought up the issue of the speech made by Kim Du-bong [Kim Tu Bong], in which Kim Du-bong (chairman of the Presidium/Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly) sharply condemned sectarian and anti-party groups. This part of Kim Du-bong’s speech concerned the August group. Comr. Pimenov said that Kim Du-bong had been connected to and supported the August group (meaning the group of people who took the floor at the August plenum of the CC of the party in 1956). Kim Du-bong’s speech shows that after the talks that were conducted with him he changed his opinion.

Kim Du-bong's speech and his relation to the August group are summarized in this Polish Embassy report.
