On 11 October 1958, the government of the DPRK adopted resolution No. 125 about joining together all production cooperatives on the “li” level (equivalent of our gmina) and production cooperatives active in cities and villages/city districts.  Fishing cooperatives were also to join together.

According to this Resolution, the Chairman of the “li” People’s Committee at the same time took on the functions of the Chairman of the newly created Cooperative.  (this joining of functions did not occur in cities and villages/city districts.) Depending on the size of the newly created Cooperative, a deputy chairman for matters of production, a bookkeeper, organizers of production and accountants are appointed.  When the joining of Cooperatives is being completed, a board of the Cooperative and a review board are elected.  These authorities are subject to approval by the County People’s Committee.  Village supplies and selling cooperatives, credit cooperatives and clinics were given to the board of a joined cooperative.

The campaign of joining cooperatives began on the15^th of October of this year and was to be finished by 20 November of this year.  In fact, this campaign was finished on the 31^st of October of this year.

Out of the 13,309 cooperatives that existed so far, 3,880 production cooperatives have been created.  This has allowed for the dispatching of experienced people to the cooperatives’ boards, which in the future should have a positive influence on accomplishing the great tasks that are currently being placed before the DPRK’s agriculture.
