President Reagan’s Letter to Prime Minister Nakasone

On the evening of the 6th, the US Ambassador to Japan came to deliver the attached letter from President Reagan to Prime Minister Nakasone (delivery of the signed letter will be tomorrow). In addition, this letter is written as a response to the letter that Prime Minister Nakasone sent to President Reagan on the occasion of the announcement of the Action Program. The letter touches on such issues as the difficult situation with regard to the Congress, President Reagan’s anti-protectionist position, and how Japan should implement the Action Program as soon as possible. The letter also mentions the sending of a letter from Secretary Shultz to Secretary Abe.
