According to available information as of 31 July 1979
254 citizens of the Republic of Iraq are staying in the GDR on a long-term basis.
(there are 44 employees belonging to the diplomatic mission including their family members; 4 correspondents; 98 students from institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Education; 10 students from the Party University of the SED Central Committee; 35 professionals or trainees).
56 citizens (among them 5 children) have permission to stay in the GDR permanently.
150 citizens (among them 4 children) have permission to stay in the GDR long-term.
