I shared with you in several earlier reports what I had learned about efforts by the Russian Commercial Attaché to gather information about the commercial and economic situations in Lebanon and Syria and about the activities underway with Soviet Camp Legations, especially the Polish Legation in Damascus.
I learned now that Solod is hard at work urging the Syrian Government to sign a trade agreement with Russia. I also learned that the office of the Russian Commercial Attaché is using Nicolai Tokorin's assistance in gathering information from its sister branches in Damascus, Baghdad, and Iran, about the economic situation in these countries.
Short document on Russian efforts to obtain information on the economic situation in Syria and Lebanon, Soviet attempts sign a trade agreement with Syria.
