The Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR is forwarding for your approval a draft of the resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR regarding the selection of a site for the construction of the Central-Ukrainian Nuclear Power Station near the village of Kopachi in the Chornobyl Rayon of Kyiv Oblast'.
The construction of the Central-Ukrainian Nuclear Power Station in the Kyiv Region is provided for under the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated September 29, 1966 No. 800-555 “On the Construction and Commission of Nuclear Power Stations in 1966-1975”, and the commissioning of the first line with the capacity of 1,000 thousand kW is envisioned in 1974 and of the second line with the capacity of 1,000 thousand kW in 1975.
The site near the village of Kopachi is recommended by the state commission, approved by the collegium of the State Planning Authority (GOSPLAN) of the UkSSR and agreed upon by the Kyiv Oblast' Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Kyiv Oblast' Executive Committee, Ministry of Agriculture of the UkSSR, Ministry of Energy and Electrification of the UkSSR, as well as by other interested entities.
A draft resolution and information sheet regarding the choice of site are enclosed.
