TO THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE GROUND FORCES

 

Copy: to the Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff

 

The Minister of Defense ordered:

1. To form and prepare in the Kiev Military District for dispatch by [handwritten: 15] July:

- an editorial staff and the mobile print shop of a newspaper according to table of organization Nº 48/237 numbering 50 men;

- a film distribution base according to table of organization Nº 48/238, numbering 7 men.

2. In a partial change to the Directive of USSR Minister of Defense Nº 79602 from 13 June 1962 form a garrison officers’ club according to table of organization Nº 48/239 instead of the previously indicated table of organization Nº 48/608.

3. Ensure the preparation for dispatch of the following material for the KGB Special Department for its designated use: 11 automobiles, 7 trucks, 1 specially-equipped vehicle, 1 staff bus, 1 BRDM [combat reconnaissance vehicle], and 13 motorcycles with sidecars.

One driver is to be selected and prepared for dispatch for all vehicles and the BRDM.

4. Be guided by the following when forming the editorial staff of the newspaper and the film distribution base:

- the editorial workers and printing specialists provided are to be highly skilled specialists;

- receive an automated printing shop from the Main Political Directorate consisting of two compositing and two typesetting shops and two print shops, an engraving department, a 10-kilowatt power station and an ATM-54 automated printing shop, assembled with everything necessary for the publishing up to 10,000 copies of a four-column newspaper in a 30 x 42 cm format, and small leaflets in European languages, removing one ATS-53 automated printing shop and one ATM-54 automated printing shop and 10 tones of newsprint sheets from war reserves;

- select and prepare two hundred films on standard and narrow-gauge film for dispatch.

5. Be guided by the requirements of the USSR Minister of Defense directive Nº 79602 of 13 June of this year for all questions connected with carrying out these measures.
