[Jawaharlal] Nehru Inquired about Premier Zhou [Enlai’s] Schedule for the Afro-Asian Conference

Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

Last night I saw [Anthony] Eden at the British Commissioner’s cocktail party and at [Jawaharlal] Nehru’s event, however there was no greeting or conversation. [Jawaharlal] Nehru asked me in front of Mrs. Eden, “How is Premier Zhou’s schedule for the Afro-Asian conference? Is he going to answer to U Nu’s invitation to travel to North Burma first and then travel with U Nu to the conference?” I answered that other than there being a possibility of Premier Zhou [Enlai] attending the Afro-Asian conference, I do not know other details.

Yuan [Zhongxin]

4 March [1955]

Indian prime minister asked Chinese delegation whether Zhou Enlai would participate in the Asian-African Conference. The Chinese delegate gave positive answer but without detailed itinerary.
