I visited Kim Il Sung and introduced Military Attaché General-Lieutenant D'yakonov to him.
Kim Il Sung said the following in the conversation which took place: taking into account the international situation, we have asked the Soviet government to organize a group of military specialists in the Military Attaché's office and send [some] to the army instead of military advisers. But this is in due form, but we essentially think that the work of the Military Attaché and the Soviet military specialists should be the same as the work of the Main Military Adviser and advisers. Therefore, continued Kim Il Sung, I would ask you, Cde. D'yakonov, to meet with our senior command personnel as often as possible. The majority of them know Russian, which makes exchanges and conversation on military topics easier; I also ask you, as before, to visit our military units, subunits, and to be at military inspections and maneuvers. We hope that you and a comparatively small group of Soviet military specialists will also actively help us in all military issues and relations will be as cordial, simple, and comradely as they have been previously.
D'yakonov and I responded that these wishes will be fully taken into consideration and that they meet our desires.
Former Chief Military Adviser Cde. Danilov, who was present at the conversation, thanked Kim Il Sung on his own behalf and on behalf of the military specialists for the awards of DPRK orders and medals and invited Kim Il Sung to a comradely dinner in connection with his departure. Kim Il Sung said: "I eagerly accept the invitation and will come, but first we will hold a comradely reception for you and the group of departing comrades there. I have already given instructions to Minister of Defense Choe Yong-geon [Choe Yong Gon] about this".
