In accordance with a previous agreement I received PRC Ambassador Qiao Xiaoguang and had a conversation with him.
At the Ambassador's request I told him about the decision of the June CPSU CC Plenum concerning the case of the anti-Party group of Malenkov, Kaganovich, and Molotov.
The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude for the information and his personal approval of the plenum's decision, and also told of the KWP CC position of which we know and some materials about this issue published in the newspaper Renmin Ribao [People's Daily]. The Ambassador expressed agreement with my words about the importance of the unity of the socialist countries, fraternal Communist, and workers' Parties based on the principles of Marxism-Leninism, and especially stressed the importance of the historically developed friendship and unity between the USSR and the PRC and the CPSU and the CPC.
Then Qiao expressed an interest in the time frame for the return from Moscow of the Korean delegation headed by Kim Il. The Ambassador added that after arrival the delegation will go to the PRC and that he will accompany it.
I replied that it was expected to conclude the consultations about the draft of the first five-year plan by 20 July. I expressed the assumption that the delegation's arrival is possible at the end of this month.
