17 May 1960

I visited Kim Il Sung and in accordance with Moscow's instructions informed him of the position of the Soviet delegation in Paris in connection with the provocative acts of the US government.

Kim Il Sung expressed gratitude and said, "This is a good, correct position. It cannot be otherwise. The Americans are sending their spy planes everywhere and now they've gotten what they deserved".

During the briefing Kim Il Sung repeatedly reacted approvingly to the position of the Soviet delegation in Paris.

In the conversation which took place I informed Kim Il Sung about the decisions of the CPSU CC Plenum and the 5th session of the USSR Supreme Soviet. I also reported that the next CPSU CC Plenum will be held on 13 July, which will examine the issue of the progress of the fulfillment of the decisions of the 21st CPSU Congress concerning the development of industry, transportation, and the introduction into production of the latest achievements of science and technology.

Kim Il Sung expressed gratitude for the information.

I informed Kim Il Sung that the desire he expressed in the 2 May conversation to visit Moscow to meet with Cde. N. S. Khrushchev encountered a favorable attitude in Moscow. A desired time for the visit will be sent separately.

Kim Il Sung received this information with great satisfaction and expressed gratitude. At this time there no questions or wishes were expressed by Kim Il Sung. He only expressed the assumption that Cde. N. S. Khrushchev will soon return from Paris.

At the end of the conversation I informed Kim Il Sung about the reception in the Kremlin by CPSU CC Presidium member Cde. N. G. Ignatov of the delegation of the Korean-Soviet Friendship Society headed by Cde. Pak Yeon-seong on 16 May which had been in Moscow in connection with the 1 May celebrations and had made a visit throughout the Soviet Union.

Kim Il Sung expressed satisfaction.

The conversation lasted about an hour. Minister Pak Seong-cheol was present. The conversation was interpreted by Embassy interpreter D. A. Priyemsky and Administrator of the DPRK Cabinet of Ministers Choe Cheol-hwan.
