Beirut, May 23, 1949

Number 129/ The Russian Legation threw a party last Sunday evening for its members, Russian nationals and friends of the Soviet Union at the Legation.  A movie about the Russian army and union activity was shown.  It is one of the movies that the Russians have been showing through the Cultural Exchange Committee between Israel and the Soviet Union in Tel Aviv.

I also learned that the Russians will be showing many other movies in order to strengthen their numbers in this group.

The Soviet Nationals Association has charged Mr. Esteban Colso to distribute their magazines and fliers that they issue and invitations to future meetings.

This Esteban Colso is in his fifties and he is a Kazak. He lives in the Maskubi building and he is high-up in the Association.

The wife of Nicolai Venzel still works at Normandy Hotel as head of [illegible].  She leaves work at 5:00 PM to meet with her husband Nicolai, who had just come back to the Soviet Nationals Association after he resolved the disagreement he had with Federov, the former head of the Association.

Venzel then goes to meet with Russian agents like Josef Kibur, Nishayev, Brasenco and the engineer, Serdar, who has been the most active of the Russian Reds in service of the Soviets.
