Beirut, Jun 29, 1949

Number 154/ I mentioned in a previous report the activities of the Jews in smuggling their brothers out of Syria.

I found out from Jack Franco that the instruction coming from Israel indicate the smuggling of young Jewish youth between the ages of 15-28 and that [page 2] the Israeli government has recommended payment of 20 Palestinian Lira for every one of those.  These payments are made through the town elders and if the amount is large, they are made through the International Red Cross in Beirut.

 [page 3]

Jack Franco also says that this decision to smuggle young Jews from Syria and from Arab countries will be executed for sure even if there were obstacles in the way.  The recent activity of the Lebanese authorities is the result of intensified patrols along the borders and targeting [page 4] the Syrian National Party.  This arrangement will be removed soon once they resume activity to smuggle Jews to Palestine.

A report mentions Israeli instructions to smuggle Jewish youths out of Syria and other Arab countries.
