Letter from the Embassy of Pakistan to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (No. 2131-F-113/55)

The Embassy of Pakistan present their compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China and have the honour to state that Syed Mohammad Jan Agha, a Pakistan national in Yarkand, has brought his following grievances to the Embassy’s notice:-
i. In 1951 he was charged excessive grain tax (2,195 Jang instead of the usual 950 Jang) although he had no share in the produce of that year.
ii. He is experiencing some difficulty in the sale of his barren land.
iii. Due to restrictive measures imposed on buyers, the sale of his immoveable property brought him a price much below the market value.
iv. One Mr. Ahmad Akhun residing at Raayon No. 1, Hsiang No.5, Street No.3, Village ‘Four Gardens’, Shache owes him 85 Charak corn and 3 mow of land for which he cannot effect recovery.
2. The Embassy would be grateful if an investigation in regard to the above is made and necessary assistance afforded to Syed Mohammed Jan Agha.
3. The Embassy of Pakistan avail themselves of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China the assurance of their highest consideration.
The Embassy of Pakistan writes to the Chinese Foreign Ministry regarding the welfare of Pakistani nationals in Xinjiang.
