The CIA’s National Intelligence Daily for Thursday, 7 June 1990 describes the latest developments in China, UK, USSR, Romania and Czechoslovakia.

The paper addresses the change in economics, politics, and social structures in the Soviet bloc (Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the GDR) as a result of the USSR loosening up regulations.

Stalin speaks with members of the Czechoslovak delegation regarding their decision to attend the Paris Conference in 1947, and urges them not to attend. Further discussion includes Czechoslovak-USSR economic relations.

Zhong Xidong believes that "Czechoslovakia’s situation is in the midst of changes."

Molotov and President Beneš discussed the post-war borders of Czechoslovakia, the relocation of the Hungarian and German populations, and the economic situation in the country.

This is the Slovak record of a 1987 conversation between the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Zhao Ziyang, and Czechoslovak Prime Minister Lubomír Strougal outlining the possibilities of economic reform in Czechoslovakia and discussing technical and economic cooperation between Czechoslovakia and China. Zhao indicates that China is lagging behind in its development and asks for Czechoslovak support in reconstructing and modernizing Chinese power stations and chemical plants.

There is a mention of the several different secretaries of different communist countries—Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Korea. The need to improve economic situations and living standards in all countries is addressed, including the rebuilding of areas destroyed in the Korean war.
