Republic of China Foreign Minister (right) Chow Shu-Kai and Permanent Representative to the UN Liu Chieh listen as the General Assembly votes to include items related to the status of China at the UN on its agenda on September 24, 1971. Later that year, the UN General Assembly would vote to recognize the People's Republic of China as the sole representative of China and to expel representatives from Taiwan.
