MARITIME FRONT RECONNAISSANCE PLAN FOR AN AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT OPERATION
for the period D-4 through D-7

PURPOSE OF THE RECONNAISSANCE: To establish the degree of combat readiness of enemy men and equipment to defend the Danish islands and the southern coast of Norway, especially Zealand; to learn the deployment and combat use of troops; and to reconnoiter the degree of engineering preparation for a defense against assault landings.
The main reconnaissance efforts are to be concentrated on Zealand.

| BEFORE THE START OF THE OPERATION
Learn enemy measures to prepare and use nuclear and chemical means of attack.
Learn enemy measures for the operational deployment of the ground forces of the Jutland brigades, their groupings, and also the intentions for their use. Learn possible measures to reinforce the SV [ground forces] by sending formations from Great Britain and the US. Find the time and grouping of the forces advancing to occupy the forts in RAKSE [SIC, probably FAKSE] and KØge Bays and cities, especially COPENHAGEN.

7. | Learn the air defense system and the basing of air force men and equipment, and determine the degree of their readiness for combat use. Learn enemy measures to augment the air force and the air defense system.
Determine the composition and the areas of deployment of enemy naval ship groupings.
Learn enemy measures in the area of preparing artificial obstacles in RAKSE and KØge Bays, especially mines. Determine the scope and the areas where supplies and troops are unloaded in ports.
Determine the grouping and nature of the operations of electronic warfare subunits

RESERVE
DURING THE AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT OPERATION
A. During the period of crossing by sea and the seizure of bridgeheads
Confirm the grouping of means of mass destruction and learn enemy measures to use them
Establish the time, sectors, and quantities of air forces men and equipment able to operate against the assault forces
Determine the time, sectors, and order of battle of the naval ship strike groups operating against the assault forces
Determine the grouping of ground forces in the assault landing areas. Identify the sectors in which enemy reserves are being brought up. Learn the enemy's ability to reinforce ground forces by transferring troops from Great Britain and the US.
Learn the possibility of air force and naval reinforcement from groupings operating in the North Sea
Track the grouping of Norwegian ground forces and the preparations of the defense lines of the southern coast. Identify possible measures to reinforce the grouping of troops in the sector TØNSBERG- FARSUND (Norway) and in the area of COPENHAGEN (Denmark)

B) During the accomplishment of amphibious assault operation missions
Track the grouping of means of nuclear attack. Identify enemy measures to use them in a timely manner
Confirm the ground forces grouping. Find the composition and condition of the reserves and the intentions to use them. Devote special attention to discovering enemy intentions to reinforce the ground forces by transferring troops from Great Britain and the US
Constantly track air operations. Determine air defense aircraft and equipment losses. Identify measures to reinforce the air defense grouping and system
Track the operations of enemy navy ship groupings. Identify possible reinforcements and enemy intentions for the further use of naval forces
Identify enemy measures to prepare and carry out a troop maneuver. Discover enemy intentions to use new forces.
Verify the condition and changes in the equipment of lines of defense, especially minefields. Identify additional engineering preparation measures. [Pay] special attention to measures to lay new nuclear minefields
Track the changes of the grouping of Norwegian troops. Identify possible measures to reinforce troops, especially in the sector TØNSBERG- FARSUND

MAIN ORGANIZATIONAL MEASURES
1. Issue preliminary instructions to OSNAZ [special communications intelligence detachment] units by 2200 27 June. Issue operational intelligence instructions to armies and front units two days before the start of the operation.
2. Begin reconnaissance on behalf of the impending operation starting 27 June without violating the border.
3. Relocate OSNAZ units and occupy the lines to conduct reconnaissance on behalf of the operation 24 hours before the start of the operation.
4. By 2400 28 June work out the issues with the naval staff to coordinate intelligence personnel and equipment and the information exchange before the start of and during the course of the operation in accordance with the missions indicated in column 11.
The Polish Navy has for this purpose:
- five Il-28R [entered by hand: 10 LIM-1A 12 MIG-21R] aircraft
- three ship electronic reconnaissance posts including the following number of direction-finding posts
- 22 HF DF posts
- six UHF DF posts
- six radiotechnical reconnaissance posts
- the 6th Radio Reconnaissance Center comprising 48 HF DF posts is deployed at the line BRANIEWO-USTKA-DZIWNÓW. Lt. Col. Torba is responsible for coordination.
5. [The following] have been developed for the intelligence plan by the chiefs of special sections in the form of separate documents:
1. A plan for the combat use of special front reconnaissance men and equipment
2. A plan for the combat use of front radio and radiotechnical reconnaissance units.
