RECORD OF A CONVERSATION
with Raul CASTRO RUZ, Minister of the Armed Forces
of the Republic of Cuba
27 February 1963
I met with Raul Castro at his request. During the meeting Raul expressed a request that help be given in Moscow in accommodating Cuban military attaché Major [Sunyol]. In particular, he asked that [Sunyol] be allotted or sold a Volga automobile.
I told Raul Castro that I would pass on his wish as requested.
NOTE: Based on the principle of reciprocity, I would consider it correct to give [Sunyol] a Volga automobile through Ministry of Defense or GKEhS [State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations] channels free of charge, inasmuch here the Ministry of the Armed Forces has transferred a considerable number of automobiles to the Soviet military specialists free of charge; GKEhS representative Cde. Remizov also uses a Cuban automobile.
