Role of the political organizations in the Islamic Republic of Iran

 

Since the fall of the Shah in February 1979 in Iran around 70 political organizations arose with an Islamic veneer. They are representatives of the various classes and groups of the bourgeoisie in Iran. The leading upper bourgeoisie party is currently the "Party of the Islamic Republic" under the leadership of Ayatollah Behschti. In the state apparatus it occupies important positions.


It is known about Ayatollah Beheschti that he lived some [text is blurred] years in the FRG and returned after the fall of the Shah to Iran. Beheschti is currently the Chair of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic.


The second leading party is the "Party of the Islamic Revolution" under the leadership of Abolhassan Bani Sadr. Bani Sadr is the current President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.


Other larger parties are:

 

-"Party of the Iranian Muslim" under the leadership of Ayatollah Schariat Madarin. This party was officially banned about 4 months ago (plot against the Iranian government), but is now continuing its activities.

-"Party of God" under the leadership of Ayatollah Madi Ghaffari. This party is a melting pot of Islamic fanatics who are armed. The party has a fascist character and is used by the leading circles and Ayatollah Khomeini against progressive leftist forces.

-"Organization of the Fighting People"

-"Society of Iranian Muslims" under Dr. [text is unclear]

-"Party of the Fighting Muslims" and others.

These political organizations declare themselves all as followers of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's agenda. In doing so, they fiercely compete with one another.

Other political organizations with lesser influence are:

-"Tudeh Party of Iran"

-"National Front"

-"Party of Iran"

-"National Democratic Front of Iran"

-"Paniranian Party"

-"Organization of the Loyal Partisans of the Iranian People"

-"Democratic Party of Kurdistan"

-"Tufan Organization"

-"Komoleh Organization"

and others.

 

The high number of bourgeois political organizations with an Islamic veneer is based on an attempt by the bourgeoisie to manipulate the masses in great numbers and thereby ensure an expanded field for distraction maneuvers. This was quite clear during the elections for the so-called "experts council" and the elections for the so-called "Islamic Parliament." In these elections all these bourgeois political organizations were unified with one another and used against the candidates from the workers' movement and leftist organizations.

 

The influence of the Tudeh Party is much reduced. This was quite clear during the previously mentioned elections primarily in the cities where the percentage of workers in the population is high. The cause of the Tudeh Party's weak influence is said to be primarily intra-party problems.

 

Protection of sources is required.
