On the basis of the Decree of the GOKO No 9168SS a hydrogeological detachment is being organized in the staff of the Soviet troops in Iran in the city of Qazvin and Geydarov, N. G., has been appointed as its chief.

The staff of the detachment will be located in Qazvin and its teams will work in [these] regions: Shakhi, Bender-Shah, Mianeh, Bolgar-Chay, Khoy, Babol’ser, Pahlavi, the Gorgan Steppe, Amol, Jul’fa, Zanjan, Tabriz, Ardebil’, Mazanderan, [and] the Rasht lowlands of the southern coast of the Caspian from the border of the Turkmen SSR to the border of the Azerbaijan SSR.

To ensure normal operation of the detachment in the guise of a hydrogeological detachment created in the staff of Soviet troops in Iran, I order:

1. By 1 August 1945 transfer to the Chief of the Hydrogeological Detachment in the staff of Soviet troops in Iran, Cde. Geydarov, N. G., two complete AVB-2-100 mobile drilling units: a drilling machine AVB-2-100, a ZIS-5 for carrying water, a 1.5 ton vehicle with an instrument and spare parts from the 6^th Hydrotechnical Company.

A UA-5 drill frame from the 315^th Independent Corps Combat Engineer Battalion.  All three drilling units are each to be provided 6 shifts of 7-man crews.

2. Allocate office space and living quarters in military units for the detachment and its teams in work areas.

3. Help [them] assembly the 120 vehicles allotted the detachment with personnel from military units.

4. On request of the Chief of the Detachment, Cde. Geydarov, assign a guard force for the teams, help them in carrying out drilling and geological prospecting work, escort the expeditions, [and] provide them with cartographic materials.
