Expulsion of North Korean diplomats
amtel 179 dated 15.10.1976
1. The Foreign Ministry has probably been informed by the Federal Police Chief, Foreign Persons Supervisory Unit, that the Embassy has issued an unusually high number of visas to North Korean diplomats here, of course sanctioned by the Federal Police Chief.
2. In the kiosk for the diplomats here, it is possible to purchase duty-free cigarettes of Danish brands; Prince and Cecil. One can imagine the market for these brands to be very limited outside Sweden and Denmark, and so it is possible that these are merely small additions to larger shipments to the North Korean embassy here. Therefore, it could be interesting to gather information on the declared quantities of cigarettes, for example over the last 6 months, that have been delivered to “Versina”, c/o Assimex, Brandenburg, GDR.
End end.
