In the Foreign Ministry today, The Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has received a notice with the following message:
“The Danish government has established that activities constituting breach of Danish law is taking place in the Embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. It has been concluded that the Embassy’s Diplomats in Denmark has traded large quantities of narcotics. Furthermore, all diplomatic representatives at the Embassy have been involved in the sales of spirits and cigarettes over a long period of time, which has been imported duty-free for the personal consumption of the Embassy and its personnel.
In the context of these actions, carried out by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s diplomatic representatives in Denmark, the Danish government, in order to ensure the continuation of good relations, urges the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to initiate the return of the following diplomats from Copenhagen:
Ambassador Kim Hong Chul
3rd Secretary Kim Sun Gil
Attaché Choi Hong Il
Attaché Kang Ho Sam”
The Danish Ambassador for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has been instructed to submit a similar notice to the Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang immediately.
Due to the extensive and serious nature of the issue, the decision has been made only after careful consideration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice. Given the seriousness of these violations of Danish law, it was necessary for the government to make this decision.
