Excerpts from the Record of a Conversation between Podgornyy and Kim Byeong-jik

…Kim Byeong-jik: "Relations between our countries have developed and continue to intensely develop thanks to the active assistance and aid from the Soviet comrades in recent years " [1].

Podgornyy: "Impasses appeared at one point which clouded our inter-Party relations. However, everything was done on both sides to dispel them…

Right now we are awaiting the arrival in Moscow of Cde. Kim Il Sung. This will be an unofficial visit, however we will receive Cde. Kim Il Sung like a brother, as a welcome guest. He has not been in Moscow for a long time and he probably will be interested in seeing what changes have occurred in the Soviet Union. We think that conversations with Cde. Kim Il Sung will be to the benefit of both sides, that they will serve the interests of the socialist countries and the entire international Communist movement, and be linked with the search for ways to restore unity to its ranks…" [2]

The two diplomats discuss the Soviet-North Korean relationship and the diplomatic protocol involved in welcoming Kim Il Sung to Moscow.
