January 20, 1980	Letter by President Jimmy Carter to the President of the United States Olympic Committee Robert Kane Jimmy Carter explains his call for a boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics in reponse to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
November 16, 1973	Speech to the Asian Games Federation Council by Hassan Rassouli, Secretary-General of the Iranian Organizing Committee Hassan Rassouli, secretary-general of the Iranian organizing committee and director-general of the governmental Iranian Physical Education Organization, makes a speech in support of the People's Republic of China's application to the Asian Games Federation. Rassouli offered a pan-Asian discourse that members could use to publically legitimize their pro-PRC decision by claiming that they were fighting against Western paternalism in sports affairs.
August 7, 1973	All-China Sports Federation Application for Chinese Membership in the Asian Games Federation After withdrawing from international sports events during the Cultural Revolution, the People's Republic of China recreated ties with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Asian Games. In the application, the PRC asserted it's right to represent all of China "including the Taiwan province" and be recognized as "the sole legitimate organization representing China."

April 12, 1980	Address by Vice President Mondale to the United States Olympic Committee, 'US Call for an Olympic Boycott' Vice President Mondale addresses the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), advocating for President Carter's proposed boycott of the Moscow Olympic Games in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Later that day, the USOC voted to uphold the boycott.

October 29, 1971	Report by KGB Chairman Andropov on Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty A report from KGB Chairman Andropov to the Central Committee of the CPSU assessing the status of Radio Liberty and Radio Free Europe in their “transition” period and measures that might be taken to weaken them. It alleges that RFE and RL are planning subversive actions against the USSR at the Munich Olympics. It credits the Soviet bloc intelligence services with increasing the problems of the Radios. The document indicates timely KGB knowledge of internal RL documents such as the March 15, 1971 revision of the Radio Liberty Policy Manual.
